About the shop

Pikenose Barber Co. opened in March 2017 at 1112 Russell Street, Nashville TN 37206. The shop is owned by master barber Dawit Selassie-Welch, who trained for six years at a barbershop in Addis Ababa before relocating to Tennessee in 2012. The second chair has been held since 2021 by apprentice-turned-journeyman Marisol Quiñones-Roe.

Hours and booking

Pikenose is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am to 6:00pm; closed Sundays and Mondays. The shop accepts walk-ins only when a chair is open and recommends appointments through its booking site. Standard wait time for a Saturday morning walk-in is approximately 75 minutes. Children under 6 are not accepted; the shop refers families to a kid-specialty barber down the street.

Services

Standard services include a classic men's haircut ($38), beard trim with hot lather ($22), straight-razor neck shave ($18), and a full hot-towel wet shave ($55). Pikenose does not offer color, perms, or hair extensions. Veterans receive a 10% discount on Wednesdays with current ID; the shop does not accept tips by card.

Community

On the first Friday of each month Pikenose hosts a free coffee-and-conversation hour from 7:00am to 9:00am, sponsored by a rotating local roaster. The shop closes annually for the second week of August so both barbers can attend the Tennessee Barbers Association continuing-education conference in Memphis.
